North West Fine Foods Junior Chef of the Year
We our proud to say our commis chef Michael Lambert
came second in the North West Fine Foods Chef of the Year Award.
Below is a note from Michael about his work history and on the
recent competition.
'I started my career working as a chef at Linthwaite
House Hotel then moved onto working at Blackburn Rovers FC for
Nigel Howarth's Northcote off-site team. I then moved on to working
in America for Camp Cusine which took me to New York in 2001 and
Connecticut in 2002.
I am now at Purdey's at Langdale as a Chef de
Partie and decided to enter the competition for North West Young
Chef of the Year because it has been something I have always wanted
to do before I got too old. I won the Cumbria heat and went on
to the final in Liverpool where I ended up coming second place
by three points. I chose the dishes I did because the ingredients
were very local and in season plus they have bags of flavour. I
like to keep it simple but tasty. I wanted to win the competition
but I was very happy with second place, so I could say I am very
happy for being the second best young chef in the northwest.'
